Grind and seal sits between a light surface polish and a full mechanical polish.
We grind the slab to the stone exposure you want, anywhere from a subtle fleck to a heavier, more visible aggregate. We then seal it rather than taking it through the extra honing stages a full polish needs. It’s a durable, good-looking finish that costs less than a mechanical polish because it involves fewer grinding stages.
If you’d prefer no stone showing at all, burnished concrete gives a smooth, uniform surface instead.

Grind and seal is one of the most versatile concrete finishes we offer, and it’s a common choice across Adelaide for:

For outdoor areas, it’s worth keeping Adelaide’s strong summer sun in mind. A high-gloss finish can create glare in direct light, so matte or satin is often the more comfortable choice outside. Topical vs Penetrating Sealer
The sealer you choose affects both how the floor looks and how it performs.
Topical sealer
Sits as a protective film on the surface and tends to have a slightly higher sheen. It’s common on driveways and garage floors.
Penetrating sealer
Soaks into the concrete itself with no surface film. It suits areas that need better slip resistance, such as alfresco spaces.

Looking After Your Grind and Seal Floor
Topical sealers wear gradually over time, particularly on driveways exposed to UV and tyre traffic. When yours starts to look dull, a clean and colour seal refreshes the surface without the need to regrind.
If you’d prefer a floor with no surface film to maintain at all, mechanical polish in Adelaide uses a penetrating sealer only. And if your existing surface is tiled or too damaged to grind, a concrete micro topping can be laid first, then ground and sealed in the same way.
For garages and workshops that deal with oil, fuel and chemicals, epoxy flooring gives you a fully sealed, colour-coated surface instead.
